Director, Facilities & Engineering

General Responsibilities
  • Oversee facilities planning and operations activities for company. 
  • Manages contractors and other vendor relationships, with the motivation to keep project delivery on time and on budget.
  • Develop facilities policies and practices.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of all essential building systems to assure systems are operating correctly and efficiently. Such systems include: electrical, mechanical & plumbing.
  • Manage and prioritize maintenance and repair needs and work with vendors to coordinate maintenance and repair when outsourcing is necessary.
  • Oversee selection and ongoing contracts with outside vendors for regular maintenance issues.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors, contractors, engineers, employees.
  • Communicate operational guidelines to staff so that information is disseminated uniformly in a manner that promotes understanding and compliance.
  • Actively hires, trains, and motivates facilities staff and contractors.
  • Review and approve facilities related contracts and vendor qualifications.
  • Develop and monitor facilities related budgets.
  • Support all Divisional initiatives as identified by divisional management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements
  • Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Sets goals which align to department plans and manages the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring. Maintains a safe and professional work environment.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
 
Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred
  •  MUST HAVE PROVEN FACILITIES PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND CONSTRUCTION MGMT EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience in the life sciences industry is required
  • 8-10 years of facilities and engineering leadership
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills
  • Experience selecting and managing vendors and contracts
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
